Thinking back of the 3 months duration of the course, we realized it has been an amazing experience for the three of us to work together and make miracles happen. Yes, miracles, we must say so - because we are the only group with just 3 members. In fact, we got 4 at the beginning but one decided to drop the course. From that moment, we knew that we'd have to put in more efforts than the other groups to complete the assignments.
We were all strangers to each other when we met at the beginning of the course, therefore, we spent a week to figure out each member's strengths and weaknesses to make the best work division. It turned out Vinh is a skilled filmmaker and video editor, Hien has good linguistic and handmade skills and Thao excels at designing. With cooperation and unity, we worked together very well from the first presentation to the final showcase.
Yet we also faced many obstacles. We ran out of ideas in the most critical time. We still remember skyping each other for hours at late night but only get 3 of the media platforms done while it required 4. We miscommunicated several times, and our ideas were conflicted. Luckily we all were able to keep calm and work out the best way to avoid dispute.
Another huge problem is our individual schedules with other overlapping assignments. We remembered the hardest time when the showcase was near and each of us had 2 to 3 other assignments to submit. It was a real struggle, but we were thankful for that as we learned how to sympathize and understand each other's problems.
Hard work finally pays off. We were excited when we received HDs for our first two presentations, and it was wonderful to read the 47 notes of feedbacks from our showcase visitors. Most of them complimented our campaign for its high creativity, especially for the double-layer magazine ad and the lenticular billboard. On the other hand, we learned from two suggestions that the language barrier might prevent us from reaching our target audience, and our communication objectives needed to be more specific.
To us, Advertising Industry Practice is not a theoretical course but an invaluable experience that lasts a lifetime. After this course, we know what it's like working in an ad agency and running a campaign. Each of us learned worthy lessons about tackling the impossible, catching on our true ability, working together in the most effective way and dealing with different people. We are now one step closer to being ready for more challenges that we will face in our actual career. We also have 47 notes of the feedback from visitor including students, RMIT’s staff and industry people after the showcase. The most of the feedback contain the positive comment with the words of “ creativity”, “lenticular”. On the other hand, there are some suggestions for us that the difference in language may prevent us from reaching target audiences. To us, Advertising interactive practice is not only theory course but also the experience one.
Above all, we want to express our sincere thanks to our beloved lecturer, Ms. Linda Nguyen, who is a strict but also a very friendly teacher at the same time. Without your dedication and support, we wouldn't have been able to complete the course with flying colors and worthwhile experiences. Once again, thank you so much for being an awesome teacher.
